About us
Vietnam Animal Aid is an animal rights organization that has a rescue shelter and vegan farm animal sanctuary in Hoi An, Vietnam. Our mission is to end the suffering of all species through mass sterilization/vaccination, education, and improving veterinary care across Vietnam.
We had our own international nonprofit veterinary clinic for 3 years before it had to close due to lack of funding. We are looking for professionals who are interested in managing the daily operations and veterinary care of our animal sanctuary while helping to expand into projects such as a mobile veterinary clinic that will help to prevent suffering and the need for rescue before it’s created.
This is one of the most rewarding experiences with an organization I’ve ever had, and I value what I’ve learned working in animal protection and animal rights in such a unique and challenging environment –Â Adelle Goodman, Director of Operations

About you
VAAR is seeking a dedicated, highly-organized, experienced, and compassionate Shelter Manager and Vet Tech/Nurse to oversee the daily operations of our sanctuary in Hoi An, and help the organization expand into projects that will prevent animal suffering in central Vietnam.
The Manager will be working alongside the sanctuary’s Founder and Director to understand the intricate challenges and systemic solutions to preventing animal suffering.
Taking care of animals is much more than feeding them. A clean shelter is essential to ensuring the health of the animals, and as the Founder ran their own nonprofit veterinary clinic for several years, they will train you on how to maintain clinic standards.
When we have enough funding, we will re-start our mobile vet clinic for medical animal emergencies with local poverty-stricken families, as well as vaccination and sterilization community projects.
Vietnam’s borders are now open and there are currently no COVID restrictions.

Our location
Hoi An is a historic port city in central Vietnam with excellent museums and a well-preserved UNESCO World Heritage Site old town. The shelter itself is between Old Town and An Bang Beach. The beach is one of the most untouched areas considering Da Nang’s beachfront has been taken over by large corporate hotels and office buildings, and we often like to sneak down to the beach in the evenings to enjoy the sunset and some beachfront restaurants. As this is a touristy town, there are many cultural exchange experiences and tours for learning about the unique culture and history of this region.
We work in animal rights in a country with very little legal or social support for animals and the capacity of the veterinary industry is extremely low, so this will be a learning experience for anyone not familiar with low-resource animal rescue.

Our offer
Job Requirements and Benefits:
- 5 working days per week / 2 days off
- 6 to 8 working hours per day
- Offsite accommodation stipend up to 3 million VND (the cost of housing in Hoi An is generally less than this)
- 21 days annual paid holiday
- $500 USD per month (11.6 million VND) with the possibility of a pay increase after a training period
