- Dreaming of running away and leaving all the COVID Crazy behind? Then the Kimberley is the place to be!
- Want to work in an exciting area, with positive people and no clinic politics? Then we have the workplace for you.
- Are you looking to hone your surgical skills, deal with relaxed clients, and visit some magical places? Then the Kimberley really is it!
The Kimberley Vet needs a Locum Veterinarian to help support our clients until our new vet starts in early January. You are an experienced Locum with a broad set of veterinary skills, a great communicator and highly collaborative. You will be warmly welcomed by our friendly, talented support team and happy to look at periods of a couple of weeks to a month or more.
We offer a relaxed positive and supportive clinic environment, with capable and down to earth nurses, a well-established and appointed clinic and a genuinely happy and cohesive staff atmosphere. We have many previous employees happy to act as references to the truly fun and positive environment in our clinic, something so important in the current challenging veterinary times.
Our practice has an appreciative and non-demanding clientele, is 95 % small animals, the remainder wildlife and interesting cases, and is proud to say we are the clinic that recently diagnosed the exotic disease Ehrlichia canis in the region. We work hard, have fun and enjoy relaxed staff gatherings whenever possible to support each other and reward ourselves for hard work.
We have worked at the Kimberley Vet Centre on three separate occasions now, and were it not for COVID restrictions, we would be back there again for 3 months this year. We have always found the practice to be a professional, caring and supportive environment and love working with their capable and efficient team. The Kimberley is the most fabulous place to visit and explore, and we look forward to being able to fly back and spend more time there as soon as we are able – Paul & Rose Unsworth, Locum Veterinarians
About this role
As an experienced Locum Veterinarian you already have a pretty good grasp of the talents, skills and abilities that a Small Animal practice like ours needs – sound diagnostic skills, contemporary veterinary medicine knowledge, broad soft tissue surgery, down to earth communication with team, clients and patients, and of course the smarts to deal with the unusual with grace and calm.
The Kimberley is truly a place like no other, and offers the perfect environment for those that love to play in the great outdoors. It is a paradise for camping, fishing, bush walking and exploring that offers 1000s of square kilometres in which to do so. Our practice range extends from Halls Creek in the south, to Wyndham in the west, Kalumburu in the north and across to the Northern Territory border and beyond.
This area contains some of the most awe inspiring country imaginable including attractions like Lake Argyle, The Bungle Bungles, The Gibb River road, El Questro Station and so much more. All of these are readily accessible by road from Kununurra as a base, and available to you to visit with our flexible employment terms.
Our community is highly social and has many active sporting clubs, community groups, and volunteer organisations. So far we have survived these diabolical COVID times virtually unscathed, and the Kimberley is one of the safest, cleanest, healthiest environments that you could wish to live in in these current crazy times.
While working in our stunning location is reward enough for many, we recognise that we all have to earn a respectable living and we are prepared to meet the market for Locum fees PLUS you get to enjoy our remarkable sunsets!
We offer flexible employment terms (eg 4 day weeks, or extended days off to explore our magnificent country as suits the applicant), generous remuneration, coupled with free accommodation, on call phone and a vehicle provided.
Return airfares within Australia will be provided for applicants able to join us for a minimum of 4 weeks, but all applicant offers will be entertained.
It's time to apply
We live in the best part of Australia, have virtually been COVID free, and with our great vast landscape to explore can have our freedom, stay safe and healthy.
I would be delighted to hear from you and happy to arrange a preliminary chat to discuss any aspect that may need clarification.
