A full-time Veterinary Nurse with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is required to work at our proudly family-owned and operated independent, well-equipped veterinary hospital in Weston Creek, Canberra, ACT. We work closely with our clients to optimise every animal’s health outcomes and take pride in offering first-class veterinary services.

Every day is enjoyably different and you will cover a range of small animal nursing duties, including in house pathology and imaging.
Weston Creek Veterinary Hospital is a large, purpose built veterinary hospital with ASAV Accreditation, we have three consulting rooms, separate operating theatre, a spacious treatment room, in-house IDEXX lab, IM3 dental machine & dental x-ray equipment, with RX Works practice management software.
We have separate dog and cat wards, as well as an isolation ward and separate digital x-ray suite.

About this role
You will be working in a supportive and enjoyable team environment, alongside our 5 experienced veterinarians, 4 qualified & experienced veterinary nurses. Supported by a reception team of 4 and a practice administrator.
The days are varied and interesting covering a range of small animal veterinary nursing; including collecting blood, operating idexx in house lab tests, preparing patients for surgery, monitoring anaesthesia, catheter placement. Along with admissions and discharges where you will be able to build long lasting relationships with our valued and loyal clients.
There are no after hours or on call shifts, we work on a rotating roster of 6 days where you will only work 1 in 5 Saturdays.
Necessary qualities the successful Veterinary Nurse will possess:
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
- Certificate IV or higher Veterinary Nursing qualification.
- Excellent communication skills and presentation
- Warm and Friendly personality with a professional and positive ‘can do’ attitude
- Organised, motivated and efficient with an attention to detail
- The ability to work well and contribute within a team
- Reliable with a good work ethic
- Caring & compassionate
- Passionate about nursing
We are located in Weston Creek an easy half drive from anywhere in Canberra, with free parking on site. There are local shops and cafes in walking distance of the hospital and a neighbourhood oval right next door.
We offer above award wage commensurate with experience, plus super. Saturday shifts are paid at penalty rates.
All staff have access to Proskills online training and we offer varying development opportunities throughout the year.
