EMERGENCY EMERGENCY!! CVES has a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic Veterinarian to join our team. Open out of hours, weekends & public holidays, we are a supportive team committed to gold standard Emergency & Critical Care. We love what we do, which is why we do it & we love all things ECC from GDV’s to ventilation – why not give ECC a go??
Canberra Veterinary Emergency Service is an after hours service operating weeknights from 6pm to 8am and 24 hours on weekends and public holidays. Our practice is a purpose-built facility that offers state of the art equipment to work up the most difficult of cases and we provide ample support in those difficult cases so you can always bounce ideas off of someone either on the floor or a phone call away.
We have a team of 7 Vets all from diverse backgrounds, some with memberships in ECC and Radiology, others that have worked in ECC for almost 20 years. Our nursing team of ~ 20 nurses are highly trained and work seamlessly along side the Vets as our second pair of arms and eyes on the floor.
We are a cohesive, supportive team who help each other out and ensure the best outcome for our patients by keeping up to date with the most recent literature, attending conferences, ensuring access to new medications and diagnostics, continuing education with inhouse tutorials, M & M rounds and journal club. We have access to 2 Emergency Fellows for extra support when necessary.
We care about the members of our team, about the direction of their career progression, about managing their fatigue levels and about ensuring we all have a good work life balance so our job is rewarding and compliments our home life.
We like toys and have almost all the bells and whistles, from digital imaging and ultrasound to comprehensive blood machines including blood gases and APTT/PT. We have ventilators, multiparameter monitors, active heating devices and almost everything in between. The building has 9 consulting rooms, 2 surgical theatres and a separate cat ward. The treatment room is extensive with three treatment benches, oxygen cages and heated cages, large dog runs and multiple cage space to monitor patients carefully.
We love what we do, which is why we do it. We are here by choice. ECC is exciting to work in and the miracles we see and have a hand in make working in ECC the most rewarding career ever!
Caring, compassionate professionals. Wonderful when you are stressed about your pet when they are sick. This practice has treated 2 of my dogs and have been reassuring and knowledgeable. I can’t thank them enough – Elan Chesher (Google Review)
