- Exciting position for Experienced Veterinarian
- Lots of exotic and infectious diseases plus trauma and surgical cases
- Really make a difference
Cats and dogs make up most of our work with an increasing number of rabbits and occasional endangered wildlife. We work very much as a team and look after each other, the pets of Expats, Cambodians and street animals.
Amazing long-term opportunity for an experienced, kind, compassionate, hardworking and motivated Small Animal Veterinarian. Ideal start ASAP due to a family bereavement. This is a rare opportunity to work in Siem Reap and to really make a difference in this wonderful place.
The practice was started in December 2015 as a heartfelt desire to serve the local community. We have grown to a two Vet, two Animal Care Assistant and a Receptionist practice, and are growing all the time. It is an honour to be the only veterinarians taking care of the lifesaving APOPO landmine clearance rats whose work saves lives and returns land for villagers to use for housing, school and agriculture. About 3 times a year we are responsible for pregnancy testing cows for the Cows For Cambodia charity but you aren’t required to do this for the advertised position. We provide care and education for Expat and Cambodian pets as well as street animals.
About this role
There are many possibilities for our Vets, as well as opportunities and people are matched as much as possible to their passions while maintaining a good balance for the whole team. We see a lot of exotic and infectious diseases as well as trauma and surgical cases. The successful candidate will be mainly consulting, looking after hospitalised cases and be competent at routine surgeries such as neutering and wounds. For keen surgeons, there is an opportunity for orthopaedics and other more technical surgeries which would be an advantage but it is not essential for this position.
We are currently focusing on the private part of our practice – the base that allows us to do community-related things and make our projects sustainable.
Siem Reap, Cambodia and its community is fantastic and the cost of living low. It is the sort of place that people fall in love with while travelling and just have to come back to. The challenges of working in a developing part of the world make the successes all the more worthwhile.
There are lots of beautiful hotel swimming pools that are open to residents, as well as a huge range of cuisine, bars etc for your free time.
An attractive Salary including Accommodation is available, structured to appeal to the right new Team Member joining us.
