With the generally recognised shortage of Vets and Vet Nurses, particularly in regional areas, attracting, retaining and developing your team has never been more important. Whilst focussing on retention and development is essential, when it comes time to recruit your next team member, as an Owner, Partner or Practice Manager, today you have to sell yourself and your practice.
Remember, it is called a Job AD…and like all good ads, it is there to entice people to action, not do the entire sales job. All you really want to happen is for you to receive plenty of resumes; having too many to choose from is a much better problem than having one…or none.
An effective job ad is not just a job description. It is a carefully crafted message with the aim of attracting the best qualified candidates for your job.

According to Kara Slusser, director of the Indiana Scheduled Prescription Electronic Collection and Tracking (INSPECT) program, Indiana Professional Licensing Agency, Indianapolis, 49 states now have prescription drug monitoring programs (PDMPs).
Glasgow vets save Great Dane – with its own blood
A HUGE Great Dane has been saved from death by vets who used his own blood in a pioneering transfusion. Four-year-old Merlin had lost more than five pints of blood and only a cell-salvage procedure, being used in Scotland for the first time, prevented him from dying.
Flea, Tick Products Linked to Neurologic Adverse Events
The FDA released an alert this week warning veterinarians and pet owners of the potential for neurologic adverse events in dogs and cats treated with isoxazoline flea and tick preventives. FDA-approved products in this class include Bravecto, Nexgard, Credelio, and Simparica. Data received by the FDA, as part of its routine postmarketing activities, indicates that some animals receiving these flea and tick products have experienced adverse events such as muscle tremors, ataxia, and seizures.

An online survey collected data on each surgeon’s training, board certification status, primary area of practice, and preferred method of repair.
